ACTIVITIES
Development and Drafting of Usage Scenarios for a Bach House Weimar>
The BACH BIENNALE WEIMAR was founded in 2008 as an independent festival in the Bach City.>
Nikolaus Harnoncourt kindly agreed to serve as patron of the festival, in which all performances are on original instruments.

We make music for it
Drafting of a temporary interim solution at the authentic location: “Weimar Capriccio”>
Capriccio = enthusiastic rule-breaking…

Until the “Bach House Weimar” can be realised, “Bach in Weimar” e.V. has developed a temporary interim solution: “Weimar Capriccio”. This Info-Box in lightweight construction with music performances and multi-media-presentations can adequately promote Weimar as a Bach City and at the same time collect money for the later construction of the “New Bach House Weimar”.

Maintaining a constructive dialogue with the owners of the Bach site, the Schörghuber Holding in Munich.>
We have communicated and documented our desire for the adequate development of this culturally historical, unique venue in a thorough, intensive and sustainable manner to the owners of the property. Alexandra Schörghuber, the Chairwoman of the Board of the Holding confirmed her “basically very open” position in regard to the Bachhaus Weimar in January 2011. The dialogue was updated in 2012 in a conversation with Reinhold Weise, Managing Director of the Arabella Hospitality Group GmbH & Co. KG. He signalised that – after several years of internal reorganisation (after the unexpected, tragic death of the Chairman of the Board, Stefan Schörghuber in 2008) – the Schörghuber Holding will soon actively examine the matter of the Weimar “Bach Site” (presently the parking lot of the Hotel “Elephant”).
Maintaining contacts to important municipal committees and local decision makers.>
In November 2010 the City Council unanimously voted to support the initiative of constructing a Bachhaus Weimar.

Internationally searching for financial supporters.>
Since its foundation, the association has been able to secure a five-digit figure for this purpose. One of the prominent supporters is the Nobel-Prize winner Prof. Dr. Günter Blobel. In his letter of intent, he confirms that the Friends of Dresden, Inc. (of which he is the chairman) is willing to purchase the site of the former Bach house.
